Bistek is a beef dish that is cooked with soy sauce, calamansi or lemon juice & lots of sliced onions. It’s one of my go to dishes if I don’t want to spend too much time chopping or cooking in the kitchen. It is best eaten with steamed rice or in my case, quinoa.
Ingredients:
- about 2 lbs. of thinly sliced beef
- 2 red onions, sliced
- 1 Tbsp chopped garlic
- 1 Tbsp onion powder
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp course pepper
- 1/3 cup calamansi or lemon juice
- 1 – 1 1/2 cup liquid aminos (or soy sauce)
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
Instructions:
- Oil the skillet or pan
- Add chopped garlic and cook until lightly golden or fragrant
- Add beef & pepper
- Once starting to sizzle pour the worcestershire sauce
- Combine calamansi or lemon juice and liquid aminos, adjust it to your taste
- Add garlic & onion powder
- Simmer until beef is tender
- Add the onions & let it simmer until it cooks
- Serve over steamed rice
- Enjoy
